After being cooped up the last few days with the sickies you were craving some fresh air and adventure. You led me to the thicket next to our house, and while it is normally too overgrown to walk through all of it in the summer, we discovered has perfect toddler sized trails, natural forts and openings in the winter. You led me confidently through the thick brush and I smiled at your Alice-like sense of adventure. I occasionally had to get on all fours to follow you and I half wondered if we too would fall down a magical rabbit hole.

Sankt Wendel Christmas Market

Sankt Wendel from Tanae Sorenson on Vimeo.
Christmas is a pretty magical time in Germany! Yesterday we went to the Sankt Wendel Christmas Market, (which is one of my favorites) so I thought I'd practice some more video and try to capture a bit of the magic of Christmas time and markets with kids. A little more challenging than I'd thought it'd be without my husband to keep track of my daughter while I focused on shooting! Luckily I have pretty awesome friends! If theirs a Christmas market near you, I definitely recommend going! And if you have kids, going during a weekday is especially nice because while you may miss the night and lights, it's less crowded and has a special magic all it's own.

A Morning Walk - October 2016 from Tanae Sorenson on Vimeo.
"There is something magic about seeing the people I love move, laugh, fall down, breath, and sweep their hair out of their faces the way I see them do everyday." -Summer Murdock
I have been toying with the idea of learning and shooting short films for nearly a year and last month while on a morning walk with my daughter, I decided right there I just needed to start. The perfect time or the perfect idea would never come around, so I just needed to take action and dive in! Aaaand I did.
Right there during our impromptu early morning walk in our pjs, (yup I'm the crazy lady who always has her camera on her) I made my first short film since college.
I know I have miles of improvement ahead but I'm really excited to keep this going through the new year and improve.
What skill or resolution are you wanting to work on / learn?
The day couldn't have been more perfect. It was warm, their was occasional sunshine (a big win in Germany during the fall)... and this girl! She can light up a room with that smile and her beautiful blue eyes!
I feel so honored when people ask and trust me to document their families. It lights me up and gives me a little rush of adrenaline capturing family bonds and relationships, especially when they are as awesome as this family.
