The Sifer Family
Tuesday, November 17, 2015Nothing like being in the hills while wearing drindle and lederhosen! How awesome is this family! I wish there had been more time for this shoot, but we were in a race with the clock the moment we pulled up to this beautiful hillside. The sun was setting in less than an hour and the cloud cover was heavy and dismal, making the already fading light even softer. Soft light is great when you have some sunshine, but fading light under thick clouds creates very flat and (also sometimes called) boring lighting. Rescheduling wasn't possible so we planned to just go with it and make the best of it! We whipped through poses, played hard, and used every last bit of light we could. Despite the lack of light and the chilly air, I think we definitely made the best of it, and most importantly had fun!
Photographing the Jensen family is always so much fun. They make it so
easy to capture the love, laughter, and playfulness they have for one another.
During a session I have moments where it feels like I float into a third person perspective. The people in front of me aren't posing for a photoshoot. They're just living and I'm there, just observing. I see the flow of a family and get to document a thoughtful gaze here, a tender smile from a spouse there. A child's expression while being soothed and embraced; fits of laughter as a child plays in dirt, rolls in the grass, or wrestles daddy... I love those moments. The living, breathing, messy, wonderful, real life moments.
Feeling pretty grateful for this passion and for the friends and clients who trust me to document their families authentic beautiful little moments with them.
