Okay, I missed not one but two days in a row. Doing this 365 challenge is a little bit tougher than I thought it'd be, but rather than bagging the project I'm gonna forgive myself and keep going. It's tricky trying to take a creative or worthwhile picture everyday and truthfully most days I think I fail, but that's okay. What's important is that I don't give up and that I keep pushing myself creatively. So, in light of that little pep talk, here are two substitute images where I pushed myself creatively got some pretty awesome results.

Some Tips Before You Visit Heidelberg
Wednesday, February 25, 2015For Valentine's Day Scott surprised me with a trip. Our first since moving to Germany and he refused to tell me where we were going. We arrived in Heidelberg and I was whisked away into the beauty of the place... and a Thai Massage, but that's a different story. I am in love with this city! Historic old towns lined with cute shops, a cool castle with beautiful grounds and, my favorite, surrounding hills lined with hiking and biking trails giving gorgeous views of the river and city below! It's pretty much an outdoor lovers / photographers playground. I couldn't have asked for a more fun weekend or a better Valentine's Day.

A FEW TIPS WHEN VISITING HEIDELBERG:
PARKING:
If your first stop in Heidelberg is the castle, don't try driving right to it. There are a lot of houses and residents who live next to the castle and you wont find parking, but their are plenty of garages scattered in Old Town.

P12 or Kornmarkt / Schloss is the garage located below the castle and connected to the funicular that will take you straight up to the castle entrance. Weekends and holidays are crowded in Heidelberg so I wouldn't count on finding an available space in P12, but any of the parking garages highlighted in blue or red on the site above make for an easy and enjoyable walk through old town on your way to the castle.
GETTING "UP" TO HEIDELBERG SCHLOSS:
You can pay a few euros to take a round trip on the funicular to get to and from the castle. I had never been on one before and it was a fun and quick way to get up and down the hill. If you have small children or are stroller bound, I recommend it. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, directly to the left of the funicular is a small road that leads you to a staircase (around 300 stairs) that will also take you straight to the castle ground's entrance.
MY "MUST DO" WHILE EXPLORING HEIDELBERG LIST:
- Do walk the castle grounds. It's free and lovely.
- Do pay the few euro to go inside the castle and take a peek at their very very large wine barrel, the Heidelberg Tun and their historic pharmacy museum. Neither take long and the view just before you leave the castle is very picture worthy.
- If you have time, do walk across and admire the "Old Bridge" just down from Old Town. On and just after the bridge are great photo locations with a nice view of the castle, so snap a few "selfies."
- Right across the street from the bridge you'll find a cobbled walled trail that leads you to Philosophers Way. DO hike it! Even a portion of it! This was one of my favorite finds in Heidelberg! The path is beautiful and has plenty of opportunities to admire the city below. Scott and I walked the entire path. We were leisurely about it so it took about an hour, however, if you don't wish to walk the entire thing, even 10 minutes up would be well worth the view!
I hope you enjoy your trip to Heidelberg as much as we did! Did you find something not mentioned on my "Must See" list that was a highlight of your trip? Please share! Happy Travels!

I had to get a picture of those baby cheeks. I always want to whenever Scott carries her to the bath.
When Daddy get's home from work, it's snuggle time, play time, and "I can never give you too many kisses from my baby girl" time. It's so fun; I love seeing these two together.
The sunset was so beautiful today. This is just a tiny view of it from the backyard, but it was stunning.
I love to start my days with yoga. I don't do anything too intense in the mornings. I usually go through a series of slow moving poses and just focus on my body, how I'm feeling, what I want to accomplish during the day, etc. Even ten minutes of morning yoga melts away any stress I might have penned up from the previous day. I absolutely love it and it definitely keeps me sane now that I can't just hop in the car and go to the gym everyday.
When I was pregnant with Alexa, I did yoga and cycling almost everyday and man it felt so good to be so active! Now a little over three months postpartum, I'm realizing this whole "planning a workout routine" thing with an infant is downright laughable and tricky!

Alexa learned how to roll over yesterday. She started showing interest last Friday but couldn't quite make it. Then yesterday she was screaming a weird muffled scream that I had never heard before during nap time, so I went to check on her and saw her flailing around on her belly. We were lounging around on the bed today and she decided to show me her rolling over skills. Big girl, I love her so much. <3
Grandma Medellin gave her this birdie dress and I think it's quite adorable. But the dress has developed a bit of a bad rap. Every time I put her in it, she has a blowout or is cranky in general. No blowouts or crankiness yet, but she keeps giving me this look today that I can't help but decipher as mild concern.
After 5 years of shooting, I finally got the body upgrade I've been dying for! My little T1i served me well but it was definitely time for an upgrade. I am loving the capabilities of the 6D! Getting use to the new controls after 5 years with a different camera is throwing my fingers in for a loop, so since I take pictures everyday anyways, I've decided to do a personal 365 project. I wish I had thought to start it in January for the new year, but that's alright. So here's day one of life in the Sorenson house.
For the last few days, Alexa has decided that naptime is optional.
